Try your hand at the versatile craft of Machine Appliqué. It’s a great way to decorate and personalise your textiles and sewing projects.
Course Outline: We will look at the various applications and styles of machine appliqué and explore the most useful stitches on your machine. We’ll then create a stitch reference guide for you to take home.
We will talk through the importance of stabilizers and how to use Bondaweb in appliqué projects.
You will then have a chance to sew some practice samples before stitching an appliqué design onto a canvas Tote Bag for you to take home.
Please Bring to the Course:
:: Sewing machine, power cable, foot pedal, user manual.
:: Appliqué foot for your sewing machine. You can bring either an open toe foot, a plastic/see through foot or a walking foot. Any of these feet will allow you to clearly see what you are working on. Please see my Machine Applique Foot Guide for guidance and suggestions.
:: The Tote Bag will be included in the price of the course and there will be a small selection of fabrics to use for the appliqué design. If there are any particular fabrics that you would like to use then please do bring them and some matching thread on the day of the course.
Experience Level: You will need to be comfortable with how to use your sewing machine: threading, winding and loading a bobbin and using the basic stitches.
