Sew a Sleeveless Top

Have your learned how to use your machine but aren’t sure where to start with dressmaking? This workshop is a great first step into making clothes for yourself, you’ll learn some great new skills that you can use in any number of future projects.

Course Outline: In the Sleeveless top workshop we will be using the Sorbetto Top by Coletterie. It is available in UK sizes 4 to 22.

We will start off the course with an introduction to digital sewing patterns….how to buy, download, print out and cut a digital download sewing pattern.

In making your Sleeveless Top you will learn several sewing techniques: understanding and following a simple pattern, cutting your fabric, stay stitching, bust darts, creating a pleat, french seams, application of bias binding and creating a hem.

Please Bring to the Course:

:: Sewing machine, power cable, foot pedal, user manual

:: Fabric for your top, pre-washed and pressed. See Sorbetto Fabric Requirements for exact amount and fabric suggestions

:: Bias Binding, 3m in a colour or pattern to co-ordinate with your main fabric

:: Thread to co-ordinate

:: Sewing/fabric scissors, pins, chalk/fabric marker, tape measure

Experience Level: Confident Beginner. You will need to be comfortable with how to use your sewing machine: threading, winding and loading a bobbin and using the basic stitches. Confident at sewing in a straight line (although we’ll be sewing curves too!).

Duration: Course will take place over two separate 3 hour sessions (6 hours in total)
