New Pattern :: Striped Easter Egg a foundation paper piecing pattern

Striped Easter Egg FPP pattern

Perhaps a little on the late side, but here’s my latest Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern,
‘Striped Easter Egg’

In our house we don’t go all out on the decoration front when it comes to Easter. I have a few precious hand painted eggs I bought in Prague a few years ago and the girls have some Easter bits and pieces they like to play with. I did however fancy a little Easter decoration for my studio. I am so pleased that the days are getting longer, so I thought it would be nice to add to the cheer with some brighter, fresher colours around the studio!

It’s a relatively simple pattern but there are a few small pieces at the top and bottom of the egg. Take your time and you’ll be fine!

There are three stripes on the egg so you can pick and choose from your stash, use just two colours or go for three, the choice is yours!

The ‘Striped Easter Egg’ Foundation Paper Piecing pattern makes an 8″ block. I turned my 8″ block into a mini quilt that I’ve hung on the door to my studio (I promise I have bound it, but just haven’t had a chance to take a picture yet!)

The pdf pattern is presented over 6 pages, 2 of which are the pattern pieces. It features a full colour image of the design, a colouring diagram, a diagram on how to assemble your block as well as tips on how to print your pattern correctly first time around.

All of the pattern pieces have been drafted digitally and I’ve included a 1/4″ seam allowance around each of the sections to make things as easy as possible for you.

Here’s a flavour of what the pages are like…

Crochet marathon

So, I’m embarking on what I think will be a bit of a crochet marathon (for a beginner anyway)….a baby blanket!

This project is basically a diversionary tactic

I decided to make some gorgeous baby booties for my nephew as a gift for Christmas. I found this fantastic pattern from Sylver Designs on Etsy.

There’s some translating to do between the American and UK terms but the stitches are fairly basic so I thought they would be perfect for my next project….. I was wrong, wrong, wrong. I keep messing up the pattern by keeping the yarn too tight or attempting it when I’m too tired and keep missing stitches/losing count. SO, I have put the booties to one side while I calm myself down.

So, as I say the blanket is a diversionary tactic to keep my confidence and sense of achievement up!

As you can see I’ve made a start so wish me luck…..

Fame and fortune – Etsy Best of the Week

Each week a member of staff at Etsy HQ selects their favourite new products from all of the amazing new stuff available for sale on the Etsy site. This week Anda from the Marketing Department at Etsy has been keen enough to spot my newly listed Orange Suede Storage Bag and kind enough to list it in her picks of the week. Thanks Anda!

As seen in….

An amusing thing happened the other day. I got a sale through Etsy (no that’s not the strange thing) for one of my new business card holders and an embroidered leather cosmetics bag, however earlier that day the same person was shopping in Dunkeld in Scotland and picked up one of my suede pencil rolls from a local shop called Zigzags, without realising it was also made by me. Little Black Duck is well and truly selling in the multi-media age!

Little Bird was kind enough to feature me on her blog (it’s her picture shown above). The items she purchased look fab together – she chose some great colours!

Sample Sale

With the baby coming (can you tell it’s playing on my mind at the moment ?!?) I thought it would be a good idea to start selling through some of the samples that I have made over the past few years.

The first one offered for sale is this wonderful fuchsia pink leather bag. Perfect for all your makeup essentials, or just somewhere to keep all that rubbish that tends to float around the bottom of your handbag!

All samples will be listed on my own web site and on Etsy…..all at fantastic prices!
