New :: Rosette downloadable pdf Sewing Pattern

I tidied (part of) my workroom a while back….did you see the state it was in? Well, as I was wading through all of the fabric, patterns and paperwork I unearthed a number of part finished projects and product ideas.

One of which was my plans for a Rosette downloadable pdf pattern and sewing kit. This was on my to do list at the back end of last year but it seemed to get buried (literally) under any number of other projects. So, recently I have done my best to get the project back under way.

Rosettes are such a lovely addition to a Birthday celebration. I made one for my daughter’s 5th birthday and she loved it, so I made some more for some of her little friends. You could also make them as ‘prizes’ for running races, talk about an incentive to run faster! If you fancy making some for yourself I have written a downloadable pdf sewing pattern to get you making in no time.

Pink and Brown Rosette

The pattern features digitally drawn pattern pieces and templates for the numbers 0-9 so that you can personalise your rosette for any number of age related celebrations. All of the step-by-step instructions are illustrated with digitally drawn images.

To make a Rosette you will need small amounts of felt, a scrap of fabric, a brooch fastening, a few lengths of ribbon, a sewing needle and some coordinating thread.

Check out my (new!) Little Black Duck online shop where you can buy and instantly download a copy, alternatively I have it listed in the Little Black Duck Etsy store and the Little Black Duck Craftsy online store.

The kit version will be available soon(ish), once I’ve pulled all of the components together. Keep your eyes peeled!

New :: Appliqué Fox Pocket pdf Pattern

Did you see the applique Fox Pocket pattern that I entered as part of a competition to have it appear in Crafty magazine here in the UK? I was so proud when I found out that I had won!

I am so pleased that I am now able to offer it for sale as a downloadable pdf pattern, so if you missed your copy of the magazine then you can still make your very own Fox Pocket.

The pattern features digitally drawn pattern pieces and lots of photographs to support the step by step instructions.

NEW: Doll and Teddy Sleeping Bag Sewing Pattern

I’m pleased to announce that my Doll and Teddy Sleeping Bag Sewing Pattern is now available! These little sleeping bags are great for not just dolls and teddies, but mice with giant ears and even Peppa Pig. They make great gifts for both little girls and little boys who have special toys in their lives. They will love to tuck them up in bed and put them down for a little sleep. Both my 2 year old and 4 year old love their sleeping bags and spend ages playing with them

Doll and Teddy Sleeping Bag Sewing Pattern

The Doll and Teddy Sleeping Bag Sewing pattern can be made in three different sizes:

  • Small: 10 x 6″
  • Medium: 13 x 8″
  • Large: 16 x 10″….and if this isn’t big enough then you could of course scale it up even further on a photocopier!

The Sleeping Bag has been designed with a ‘roomy’ base….

…to help accommodate teddies (or Peppa Pig) with roundy roundy tummies and big fat feet, whilst remaining oh so comfortable for slimmer friendly folk

As with all of my patterns, included is a list of all the materials you will need and features digitally drawn pattern pieces. The pattern also features plenty of colour photographs to illustrate the clearly written instructions. If you fancy it and have the skills there are also a few tips for incorporating a little quilting or even some embroidery on the front flap of the sleeping bag.

This project is perfect  for a confident beginner or intermediate sewer.

The pattern is available to buy and download from Craftsy for $6 (which is about £4), or you can buy directly from my pattern shop on the Little Black Duck Facebook page

Coming Soon: Doll and Teddy Sleeping Bag Sewing Pattern

I have been working off and on on a Doll and Teddy Bear Sleeping Bag pattern for the best part of a year now. I must learn to focus and prioritize!

In the early part of last year there was a (soon to be) four year old that needed a Birthday present. This little girl completely loves her teddy but she was due to start school last September. I figured that her bear would need somewhere snug to sleep during the day whilst she was at school.

I therefore decided that a sleeping bag would be in order…..here’s the version I came up with, being modelled by Charlotte’s bear

Doll and Teddy Sleeping Bag Initial Design

Looks comfy doesn’t she?

I loved the design as there was plenty of room to fit in fat tummies and big feet but the construction was a little tricky in places (check out the corners and binding combo!). I really wanted to design a pattern that was relatively easy to explain and illustrate in a pattern, so over the course of many months I have worked on a couple of different designs, some with limited success including one that was eventually thrown across the room – tsk tsk!

Eventually I have come up with a great pattern that is indeed perfect for dolls and teddies alike, including teddies that have been sitting around watching daytime television and eating too much honey on toast (it’s what they do when you’re out of the house, honest!)

Here’s a little peek at the final design…..

The pattern has been digitally drafted (in three sizes, no less), and I’m just working through the pattern notes making sure that everything makes sense. With a bit of luck and a following wind, the pattern will be available for you to buy very soon.
