NEW :: Hexie Taco Pouch
This Hexie Taco Pouch is just the perfect way to carry a small pair of scissors and a few pins and needles! I always like to make myself beautiful sewing storage bits and pieces but something like this Hexie Taco Pouch is also great to make and give as a gift.
If you have been saving your favourite prints for something special then this is the perfect project for using just a little of each of them! The hexie flower on the outside is the ideal opportunity to let those special prints see the light of day!
The inside of the Hexie Taco Pouch features a slip pocket that is the perfect size for popping in a small pair of scissors. These ones here are one of my favourite pairs. They are made by Gingher and are about 5.25″ long, so they fit perfectly into the slip pocket!
There is also a little pincushion on the inside of the Hexie Taco Pouch. It’s a great way of keeping safe a couple of pins and needles!
Note also the super cute pins I have in this version I made. I bought them in Spain from Milbby, which is a bit like a Hobbycraft or small Jo-Ann type store. I not only have these little birdie ones but also have ones with flowers on the tops. Just too cute to not buy!

I have a great set of scalloped pinking shears that I used on the edges of this pink pincushion, but you can of course use ‘standard’ pinking shears, or just cut with a straight edge.
Saving your BEST fabrics for a rainy day?
I totally get it, I really do. We all do it. We buy gorgeous fabrics because, well, they are gorgeous but we are too ‘scared’ to use them. They sit in our stash and we bring them out every now and then and swoon over them. We then pop them back in the stash safe and sound. It’s such a shame to keep them unused, but somehow it’s just too hard to cut into them.

Well, this is where English Paper Piecing Projects like this Hexie Taco Pouch are ideal. You can use just a little snippet of something fabulous and get the opportunity to enjoy it in all of it’s fabulousness without using it all up!
Just look at how beautiful these Lewis and Irene prints are…that metallic overlay is so wonderful. I am so glad that I cut into this fabric as now I get to see it every time I use my pouch, rather than only when I browse through my stash.
The Perfect Introduction to English Paper Piecing
If you are confident with sewing but have never done any English Paper Piecing (EPP) before then don’t worry. This project is a great place to start! The pdf pattern is 9 pages long and I have digitally drawn lots of illustrations to show you how to baste your hexagons. I also guide you through how to sew them together in order to make the hexie flower.
If you have not seen, I also have some video tutorials to show you how to baste and some options for stitching your hexies together.
