HoHoHo Applique Christmas Cushion
The HoHoHo Applique Christmas Cushion/Pillow is such a jolly make for the festive season. It really makes me smile each and every time I look at it and I can’t help putting on a Santa type voice when I see the HoHoHo. Surely I can’t be the only one?
The HoHoHo Christmas Pillow/cushion is a really fun project to make. There’s a fancy letter H but have you noticed that the letter Os are bauble shaped? I just couldn’t resist!
I have used felt for the lettering as I wanted to do raw edge applique and felt is just perfect for this method as there is no fraying. You could of course use any fabric of your choice but you would either need to use Steam-a-Seam 2 or make sure that your stitching goes over the edges of the letters.
The back of the cushion features an Inset Lapped Zip. This type of closure will make it easy to remove the cover for cleaning and/or January…whichever come soonest!
I have laid out the ‘HoHoHo’ lettering in a horizontal line, but you may want to lay yours out differently. The illustrated instructions include three different layouts for you to consider. You may however, even decide to make a square pillow/cushion rather than a rectangular one. Either way, I can’t wait to see your amazing finished projects.
I do love a bit of piping on a cushion or pillow and you will see from the photos that I share, that I frequently add it to my home décor projects. I think that with the right fabric selection you can really smarten up your project and take it to the next level.
Adding piping to a cushion is not as difficult as it looks, you just need to take your time (and use a zipper foot).
