Cake on a Stand : FPP Quilt Block

The Cake on a Stand FPP quilt block pdf pattern includes two finished block sizes: 6″ and 10″.

The pdf INSTRUCTIONS feature:

:: Coloured illustration of the block
:: Blank diagram and key for colouring and/or planning fabric placement
:: Diagrams for joining the FPP sections
:: Guidance on printing the pattern pieces the correct size

The PATTERN PIECES feature:

:: Digitally drawn pattern pieces
:: 1/4″ seam allowances on all sections
:: Reversed so you create a block that looks exactly as the illustration (it’s a symmetrical design but you might be doing something fancy with the background fabric).
:: Coloured and labelled to make construction as easy as possible
:: Laid out to print on A4 or Letter paper

Three pattern pieces for the 10″ version of the block will need to be joined together before starting to sew. See page 2 of instructions for details).

DIFFICULTY

This pattern is for people that are familiar with Foundation Paper Piecing. This pattern features the same block in two different sizes. The 10″ version is easier of the two as the pieces are larger in size. The 6″ block is not actually any more challenging, it’s just smaller in size. You may benefit from the use of an ‘add an eighth’ ruler to reduce the bulk of the seam allowances for this smaller size of block.

There are no intricate seams to match when joining sections.
