This Lined Tote Bag is a great make for beginner bag makers. It is easy to cut out and relatively straightforward to make.
There are two great versions to choose from. Style 1 is a plain tote which is ideal for beginners, a quick make or for really showcasing a fabulous print. Style 2 is perfect for making use of a 12″ (finished) orphan quilt block.
The finished bag measures 14″ wide x 17″ high, plus the length of the handles. The handles are nice and long so that they sit nicely over your shoulder.

YOU WILL NEED
- The Plain Lined Tote Bag (Style 1) can be made from 75cm (less than a yard) of main fabric and 40cm (less than half a yard) of lining fabric. You’ll need to allow more if using a directional print.
- If you are making the patchwork version, featuring an orphan block (Style 2) you will only need 40cm of main fabric plus your lining and an orphan block of course.
- For both styles you will also need some interfacing for the bag facing.
- If you are planning on adding any quilting you will also need some wadding/batting and some fabric to make the ‘quilt sandwich’.
DIFFICULTY
- This pattern is perfect for beginner bag makers and more experienced bag makers alike
