Nutcracker and Mouse King Cushions : FPP pdf pattern
This listing is for a DOWNLOADABLE PDF version of this FPP project.
The Mouse King and Nutcracker cushions are bound to be firm favourites this Christmas and many Christmas seasons to come!
This PDF pattern includes full sized templates for creating both the Nutcracker and Mouse King blocks. There are also step-by-step instructions for turning the blocks into cushions, perfect for decorating your home for many Christmas seasons to come.
The Nutcracker and Mouse King cushions are a Foundation Paper Pieced project. The centrally pieced sections have borders added to them to create the cushion fronts. Once finished, your Nutcracker and Mouse King cushions will measure approximately 14″ square. The central FPP sections are 10″ finished and of course can be used in other patchwork projects.
Your purchase of the Nutcracker and Mouse King Cushions pdf download includes three files:

When it comes to the paper piecing element of the project, I would recommend this pattern to a confident beginner. There are a couple of small pieces and there are a few seams to match when joining sections (helpful diagrams included), but if you take your time, it is achievable.
This pattern assumes that you already know how to paper piece so there are no FPP technique tips included with the instructions (see below for links to tutorials).
If you are feeling confident or adventurous you can add additional detail to the cushions using free motion or straight line quilting (as I have done in the samples shown here). Guidance has not been included for this optional embellishment.

The Facets of the Heart FPP pattern makes a beautiful, slightly rounded heart. Make it up in a whole rainbow of colours or make one up in one solid colour to make a bold statement. You could even try out several tones of the same colour.
Just imagine how stunning it would look as a wall hanging or incorporated into a quilt. It would also look great on a cushion or pillow cover.
