How will you make yours?

The Log Cabin quilt block is as old as it comes and there’s more than one way to make one. You can piece the traditional way or you can use Foundation Paper Piecing techniques.

The traditional piecing method is just great, but you do need to be super confident with your seam allowance. You really do need to be spot on, especially when it comes to the more detailed versions, such as the 13-piece or 17-piece log cabin. The more seams, the more room for error there is!

This is why I really love Foundation Paper Piecing. As long as you sew on the line, you can’t go too far wrong.

If you would like to try the FPP method then make sure that you check out my Log Cabin Block FPP Templates, there are three different versions to choose from (or buy all three!).

Each Log Cabin Template pdf download has the following great features:

  • Five (5) sizes included, from 2″ to 6″ square
  • Each block size on its own page
  • Smaller block sizes have more than one template per page
  • 1″ test square on each page to test printer settings
  • Prints on Letter or A4 paper
