50+ Santa Quilt Block Patterns on Etsy

HoHoHo…it’s time for a roundup up Santa quilt block patterns on Etsy!

In this block post you will find over 50 Santa quilt block patterns on Etsy. You read that right, there are over 50 Santa quilt blocks available for you to choose from! You really are spoilt for choice. There are some really fabulous options from the modern to the traditional and from the simple to the more complex.

Pick your patchwork technique!

To make it easier for you to choose the right Santa quilt block for your project, I have grouped the blocks into two categories: Traditionally Pieced and Foundation Paper Pieced. That way you can decide on your preferred method of sewing and then go from there!

Traditionally Pieced – these Santa quilt blocks are all made using traditional piecing techniques, i.e. take two pieces of fabric and sew them together and it’s a simple as that (make sure you are using an accurate seam allowance for good results). Depending on the design there are also likely to be the odd stitch n flip or snowball corner and some half square triangles, but generally these blocks are sewn with basic machining skills.

Foundation Paper Piecing – all of these Santa quilt blocks are pieced using a paper foundation. You print out the pattern at home onto printer paper or specialist FPP paper. Then you sew the fabric to the paper in a specific order. Generally you are able to create more intricate designs using this technique.

A little mention for applique….

There is also an extraordinary amount of Santa applique designs available on Etsy. There are so many options for needle turn, raw edge, machine applique, and of course machine embroidery (which frequently features applique). You could use any number of these designs to decorate your patchwork and quilting projects, but as they are not pieced quilt blocks as such, I decided to leave them out of what is a pretty impressive list.

A quick note before we start...

When you click on any of the pictures below, you’ll be taken to an Etsy listing. These are all affiliate links and I’ll receive a very small commission should you then purchase a copy of the pattern. Don’t worry, the seller of the pattern still receives the same amount of money they should from Etsy and you will still pay the same price!

At time of pulling together this roundup all of these Santa themed quilt block patterns were live and in stock on Etsy.

Right, are you ready? Let’s dive into the 50+ Santa quilt block patterns on Etsy, starting with the traditionally pieced blocks.

Traditionally Pieced Santa Quilt Blocks

There is something lovely about traditional piecing. Just a few squares of fabric and some simple stitching and before you know it, a wonderful block has appeared before your eyes! If you are a fan of traditional piecing, then these blocks are for you.

Foundation Paper Pieced Santa Quilt Blocks

As you will see by many of these options, by using the FPP technique you can create designs that are more complex than when using traditional piecing techniques. Don’t let that put you off though, some of these designs are perfectly suitable for a beginner.
