Flying Bumble Bee FPP Quilt Block

The Flying Bumble Bee FPP Quilt Block pdf pattern is great for Spring, Garden, or even Farm themed patchwork and quilting projects. The joyful design is bound to bring a little happiness to your project.

As with most of my Foundation Paper Piecing quilt block patterns, there are two block sizes included with the pattern. There is the smaller 6″ block and a larger 10″ finished block. Both are great for any number of patchwork and quilting projects.

There are three placed where you might want to match the seams. One each side of the body where it meets the wings and the other where the antennae join the top of the head. On page 4 of the instructions, there is a useful diagram where these placed have been circled in green to help you identify them.

Want to get sewing straight away? Well the good news is that as the Flying Bumble Bee pattern is a pdf download, as soon as you have paid you will get an email to download the pattern straight away, which means you can get sewing in no time at all.

You will receive two files. One is for the instructions (which you don’t have to print out if you don’t want) and the other is for the pattern piece. So that you only print out what you need, I have grouped the pattern pieces for you. These pattern pages have also been laid out so that they can print on either US Letter or A4, so no matter where you are from, you can print with confidence.

The Flying Bumble Bee FPP Quilt Block pattern has lots of great features:

:: Full colour instructions
:: Coloured illustration of the block
:: Blank diagram and a useful key so you can plan your colours and fabric placement
:: Construction diagram to help with putting the block together and where to match seams
:: Step-by-step illustrated guide to constructing the block
:: Digitally drawn pattern pieces for accuracy, plus a 1″ test square so you can check your printer settings before starting to sew
:: Pattern pieces that have been reversed so that you make a block exactly the same as the picture
:: Pattern pieces are laid out to on A4 or US Letter paper
:: Pattern pieces have a patterned/non-solid fill so that you minimise printer ink usage

Well, when it comes to bees, then really there’s not a lot of colour variation out there! There is absolutely nothing to stop you making your bee in something other than black and yellow, but I decided stick with the classic colours. Whilst that may not sound terribly adventurous, then of course you can go to town with the background colour!

Looking for a change of direction?

All of my pictures show the Bee flying to the left, but you want your Bee to fly to the right?

No problem, all you have to do is rotate your finished block 180 degrees!

Here are some links to a few of the tools that I use when doing FPP…I really wouldn’t be without them!

Add a Quarter Ruler

I use my add a quarter ruler (and my add an eighth ruler) every time I do FPP!

This glue gets used every time I add my first piece of fabric (and for so many other things!)

Clover Glass Head Quilters Pins

Pym glass head quilting pins, for me, are the ideal length and thickness for patchwork!

Sewing clips are always useful for so many different projects, not just patchwork!
